1995 Sagging Rear End - Need Help Deciding.

Hey guys,

I read several threads addressing this issue. I want everyone's opinion on which one I should get to lift the sagging rear end on my 2nd gen 4R.

Couple of things to take into consideration. I don't plan on lifting my truck anytime soon. I have replaced all 4 shocks with a set of Monroe OEM replacement shocks. Later on down the line, a year or two from now, I might go with a complete IFS lift kit to fit 33" tires. I would like to level the rear with the front. I would like to avoid cranking up the torsion bar as I don't want to change the front suspension geometry and add stress on those very old suspension components.

The choice, should I go with:

1) SDORI spacers - http://trdparts4u.com/PD-CSS1.aspx?MakeID=1

OR

2) OLD MAN EMU Rear Coil Spring - http://trdparts4u.com/PD-OME-901.aspx?MakeID=1

I'd like to know based on everyone's experience, the pros and cons of having either one of them. Thanks guys.

I'm finally getting around to addressing the saggy rear-end issue. I was at 4Wheel Parts today and a set of EMU coilsprings and shocks are going to run me around $600 with install. I think its a rip-off, these guys must think I was born yesterday. I've seen an EMU stage I or II kit go for about the same price. I went to another shop and the sales person suggested airbags. He claims that its the cheapest way to go and the ride is comfortable. It should last a while as long as I don't do much wheelin'. I don't do much wheelin' since between my day and weekend job, I pretty much have no time to go wheelin'. However, I'd like to not be limited to what I can do with my truck up to a certain point. So I decided to walk out of there scratching my head.

First off, do I need taller shocks for the EMU coil springs? If yes, what other alternatives do I have that doesn't require replacing my current shocks? Here's a current pic of my 4Runner.

Buy them and install yourself. (Springs only) You can buy a spring compressor and have them installed in a hour. You don't need anything other then a socket or wrench (Slow) and a spring compressor sold out of JC Whitney. Your stock jack will work fine to jack up the frame lowering the axle and extending the spring at a time. You should not need new shocks as long as you don't go super tall. The shocks are designed for a new rig with no sag. Your shocks are currently sitting down in the stroke from where they should be.
