i finally got a break from work and got a chance to really clean my '03. i took my time and did it right.......maybe a little bit too much time, a day and a half. Anyway, i started off by washing the truck with dishwashing liquid to strip all the old wax off. Then used Griot's Garage clay along with the Speedshine. Next I used my Porter Cable polisher and some Griot's machine Polish 3. After she was polished up, I applied a coat of Best of Show wax, let it sit for two hours, then applied another coat on top of the first. I didn't have time to take the wax off on Saturday, so i just put her back in the garage and got a start on her Sunday morning. I went ahead put a third coat of wax on top of the previous two then polished it off. I have been using Griot's for a couple of years, but never have I done this process of layering the wax. It is by far the best wax job i have done. Here are some shots I took afterwards.

Wow that truck is shiny! All that time definitely paid off. I wish I had the time and patience to do that. :lmao: Also, I like the black sport's with the sliver door handles and grill!
 
Nice looking truck, looks like the Griot's products are workng well with your car! I spent a whole week detailing my truck back in December! :D

Very nice. Looks better than new. I'd hate to even drive it, for fear of getting it dirty.

Nice thing about a good wax job, is that just spraying it with water, generally washes the new dirt right off.
 
I just wish it would stop raining every other day. I haven't had a chance to wax mine up yet.
 
Thankls guys. It is actually relaxing for me to detail my truck. Some people like to garden, I like to detail. I just never have to the time any more. It is supposed to rain for three or four days, so it is good i work out of my house........I can just schedule my outside meetings for later in the week....:jester:
 
WOW!!! that is NICE!! Looks even better then when it rolled off the showroom floor i bet!:D gotta love that griots stuff!

I'm like the 18" wheels and your step bars. Very nice... Did you buy those step bars aftermarket or were those dealer installed like your wheels?

Thanks. The steps were on there when i bought it. It is a funny story about that stuff. In November of '02, they had just come out with the new 4Runner. We had gone to all the Toyota dealerships and couldn't find a black Sport. I just happened to see the television coverage of the Birmingham International Auto Show and saw this Black Sport. At the end of the show, they had one of the local dealerships as a sponsor, so i went there the following Monday and bought it. They had dressed it up with the lighted running boards, 18" wheels, and leather for the show. At the end of the negotiations, they realized that those three upgrades had not been added to the invoice. They tried to ad them, but I told them I would walk, so we got them free.....suckers!!!:D
 
It would be a shame to get that thing dirty - you should just park it at the 4Runner museum :D
